Hello Potters,
Watch the movie below. What do you think of this technique? Do you want to try this? Why or why not? Your homework is due Friday, March 9.

This is a very interesting but risky technique. I would love to try it because the result was very nice, but I think you have to be very sure of what you want to make and how to do it before you start carving it in to your piece. The man that did it in the video clearly knew what he was doing and was very good at it, that made it look very easy. I am sure though that it is not as easy as it seems.
I think the technique is pretty awesome. I would definitely want to try this. It not only looks interesting but it also looks like it could really make a piece stand out.
I think this technique is very interesting because the tools that the person is using makes it look really easy. I would definitely try this technique because it looks fun and carving with these tools look much easier than using a pin tool. Also, with the darker clay underneath, this would give this piece a “3D” look to it that would really make the design stand out.
gah! heck yea! oh i would so love that! as you know im rather partal to simply drawing, and the glazing pencils are nice, yes, but they dont realy have a hugly dinamic effect on your pottery- its much more subtle. this looks like... wow! i'm sure it would take alot of time, and practice, as there is no erraser on that sort of tool, but once you got the hand of it ill bet its alot of fun! it looks so smooth to.... vah! do we have one of these??
I really liked the technique showed in the short video clip. It looks sort of easier then carving when the clay is hard. I would like to try it to base it on whether it is easier or more difficult than carving when the clay is hard. Also it looks just a little difficult towards the end, but if you know what you are doing it could be quite easy. I’d like to try and make a design and do this just to see what it’s like. On top of that the texture of the bowl would be pretty neat to in my opinion. The only thing you would have to worry about is the design and not messing it up. So you would have to plan out what you wanted to do first.
