There are 6 sections to explore; Line, Color, Space, Shape Balance, and Movement/Rhythm. Each section has a Watch, Find, and Create area. This will be great practice for your reflections.

Tell me something new, interesting, or helpful that you learned in each section.

This will be your last homework of 2009. It is due Tuesday, December 22. Happy Holidays!

I learned that there are a lot more ways that lines are used; they can be thin, thick, broken, wavy, etc. I learned the difference between natural and arbitrary colors, natural is like greens, tans and browns. Arbitrary are like bright colors such as yellow, red, blue bright pink, etc. I learned that with space, there’s linear and aerial perspective where you draw objects corresponding with a focal point etc. I learned the difference between organic and geometric shapes, geometric shapes are like squares, triangles etc and organic shapes are shapes that don’t have specific names. I learned that with asymmetrical, it means that the piece is not the same or equal on both sides and obviously with symmetrical the two sides are balanced and the same. Repetition makes a pattern because it creates the same element or design more than once.

Something I learned...
Line: I learned about all the different types of lines and how to use them to make a picture.
Color: I learned different ways to use colors and got a refresher on how the colors mix
Space: I learned about positive and negative space and different ways I can utilize it, I also learned more about the vanishing point and how I can better show linear perspective in my future pieces.
Shape: I saw the difference between geometric and organic shapes and how I can combine them to make a well balanced picture.
Balance: I learned about the different kinds of balance and saw how to use them.
Movement/Rhythm: I learned how you can make a piece of art seem as though it is moving through visual rhythm and by using repetition to make a pattern
P.S.
I had a hard time finding something new that I learned because Mrs. Kristiansen had already taught me about most of it in my previous classes with her so it was more of a refresher rather than a lesson. So....

thank you

What I found interesting from line is the way the lines form the pictures and how they make the picture look full of details. There are a lot of things to do with color. I like how the complementary it a blend between a lot of different colors, but they look good together. I like looking at the primary & secondary colors because I don’t really know them. For space I liked the way they used depth because I looks very real the way the people look in the picture. The linear & Aerial perspectivn lines up the pictures and gives them space between them, so it looks like there are roads go through the town. In shape I think that the organic shapes are neat because the shapes are just shapes with no straight lines. Geometric shapes have lines that are straight and have points. I think that that symmetrical balance is very cool how they made the picture with the corn and the earth. I have probable used asymmetrical before because I just having a flower in front of the sun. I find visual rhythm very interesting because I love all the different colors blended together and I gives the picture life. I like to use repetition all the time because I like the different colors, it catches your eyes. This picture is very pretty and I think that I have seen this picture before somewhere.
HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

For the line segment I learned that there are all sorts of different lines. I also learned that it can be difficult to pick out the different types of lines in pictures of everyday life.
I learned in the color section that red and blue makes purple. To get orange you take red and yellow, and to get green you take blue and yellow. These are the secondary colors.
I learned that when you overlap things in a picture it creates depth.
I learned in the shapes section that geometric shapes are like triangles and squares. Organic shapes are like wavy and curvy lines.
Symmetrical balance is both sides of a picture that is balanced. Assymetrical balance is only one sided .
Visual rhythm is looking with your eyes at a picture and noticing the rhythm and pattern of a picture or art piece.
