Hello potters,
You are to practice writing your artist statement. An artist's statement is a brief verbal representation created by the artist about his or her own work. It should be personal and based on your specific work in Pottery Class. An example is below. Can you guess who the artist is?
What is it about creation that brings such joy? It's a need that has existed since prehistoric times when cave artists used their blood and spit to leave images behind.It becomes so interwoven with everyday life that some cultures have no word for art.It's my addiction, causing pain, anxiety, and agitation if I go too long without my "fix'. I am a mixed media artist that plays with fabric, decorative papers, beads, sand, and other materials. My work begs for you to touch it. My themes bring the past into the present. I recreate the goddesses of many cultures,merge past marks with modern graffiti, and rewrite the fairytale females I grew up with.
Homework is due Friday, April 27.
